River Kings take closer in home-and-home with Laval

CORNWALL – The Cornwall River Kings were able to edge the Laval Predators 4-3 Saturday night at the Ed Lumley Arena.

This is the first win for Bob Desjardins as head coach and also snaps the River Kings 10 game losing streak.

Cornwall came back in the third period after Laval scored two unanswered goals in the second.

Things got especially rough in the energized last period when six players were assigned penalties for either fighting, interfering from the bench or roughing.

The goalies – Cornwall’s Pete Karvouniaris and Laval’s Stephane Cesar – were penalized as well as the two former Cornwall Colts players had a dust-up at center ice.

There were 1,339 fans at the Ed Lumley Arena for the game.

The regular season wraps up Saturday March 7 when Cornwall hosts Trois-Rivieres.
