CORNWALL – The Cornwall River Kings’ three game winning streak came to a screeching halt Sunday afternoon as they were iced by Jonquiere Marquis 7-2.
Fred Piche – the River Kings’ former goaltender – turned aside 39 shots to earn the victory in goal.
Pierre-Luc Faubert had a shorthanded goal in the second while rookie forward Marc-Andre Levasseur scored his first goal as a River King in the third period.
But there weren’t many people in the stands to see the loss.
This was the first time in recent memory that fewer than 1,000 fans were in the stands (attendance was 992), possibly due to the inclement weather.
The next action for Cornwall will be Friday when the River Kings visit Trois-Rivieres.
