CORNWALL – Weather watchers are cautioning about travel this weekend as Mother Nature is expected to pack a one-two punch of mixed precipitation.
Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory as 10-15 centimeters (4-6 inches) of snow is expected to start tonight and continue into early Saturday morning.
The snow may be mixed with ice pellets on Saturday but there won’t be much, the agency said.
There is the possibility of whiteouts on area roads.
Then on Sunday, a “prolonged period” of freezing rain is expected with ice thickness of 5-10 millimeters expected (0.2-0.4 inches) expected.
The freezing rain is forecast to start Sunday morning and not let up until Sunday night.
The South Nation Conservation Authority has issued a flood watch for portions of Stormont and Dundas Counties through next Friday (April 4) afternoon.
