What’s open, closed for Labour Day 2024 in SD&G

SD&G – It’s the cusp of the last official long weekend of summer and you will find a number of things closed on Labour Day Monday (Sept. 2).

Municipal offices, the City of Cornwall and United Counties buildings, banks and government offices will be closed.

Canada Post offices will be closed and there will be no mail delivery.

All LCBO stores, with the exception of some agency stores, will be closed. Most Beer Store locations are shuttered except for the Sydney Street location in Cornwall, which will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Walmart is closed on Monday, Sept. 2.

Cornwall Square will be closed.

The Cornwall Public Library and branches of the SD&G County Library will also be closed.

Cornwall Transit is not running.

As for recreational facilities, the Aquatic Center will be open on the Monday afternoon for swims at 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. The office opens from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The Cornwall Civic Complex is open for regular programming, including the walking track, rentals and hockey, but the complex box offices are closed.

The Benson Center is open for regular programming.

There will be no garbage or recycling collection on Monday in Cornwall and your pickup day next week will be a day later than your normal collection day. The city landfill is also closed.

In North Dundas, there are no changes to garbage and recycling however the Boyne Road landfill is closed Labour Day.

In South Dundas, South Stormont, North Stormont and North Glengarry, garbage and recycling will run as scheduled.

In South Glengarry, blue box and garbage pickup for Monday has been moved to Tuesday. Collection will be pushed back by one day for the rest of the week.
