CORNWALL – The Cornwall Crown attorney’s office has stayed all charges against a city man arrested a year ago after a rash of thefts from Walmart.

Shawn Price, 34, had been arrested in April 2023 and charged with 17 counts of theft under $5,000.

Price had been accused of stealing goods from Walmart on 17 different occasions from March 6 and April 8, 2023.

Court records show the Crown stayed the charges two weeks ago (April 16) after Price participated in a diversion program.

Price also entered into a peace bond that he not attend within 50 meters (164 feet) of Walmart at 420 Ninth Street West and would keep the peace and be of good behaviour for the next nine months.

As part of the peace bond, Price agreed to pay $500 to the court if he violates any part of the order.

A stay means the Crown could reactivate those charges if Price finds himself in trouble with the law again.

Price was represented by defence lawyer Eric Lavictoire.
