CORNWALL – Mattice Park will be getting some fruit trees and shrubs this spring.

The City of Cornwall announced Friday it received a $7,500 Tree Canada grant for edible trees and shrubs in the Le Village District park.

The city plans to prep the site for planting on April 20. Transition Cornwall will design the garden and the community will be invited to participate in planting with help from the Raisin Region Conservation Authority and TC.

The species to be planted are hackberry, black walnut, swamp white oak for trees and paw-paw, pogoda dogwood, high bush cranberry and cranapple for shrubs.
