SD&G – Ontario Provincial Police across the region will be looking for people not buckling up.
SD&G OPP will be taking part in the provincial safety campaign targeting seat belt use from Good Friday (April 7) until Easter Monday (April 10).
The fine for not wearing a safety belt is $240 plus two demerit points.
Provincial police say 61 people were killed on OPP patrolled roads in Ontario last year and nine so far this year directly related to not being buckled up.
“The life-saving benefits of wearing a seat belt are irrefutable and remain your best chance of surviving a collision – consider your seat belt your best line of defence, protecting you and the occupants of your motor vehicle,” OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique said.
