Editor’s note: This story has be corrected to reflect totals from Cornwall police. The total crashes was 11 — eight investigated by police and three at the reporting center.

SD&G – The numbers are all in and the first significant snowstorm of the season saw nearly 50 crashes on city and county roads.

SD&G OPP say they responded to 36 collisions during the Dec. 16-17 storm.

Const. Serge Duguay told Cornwall Newswatch most of those were single vehicle crashes.

In the City of Cornwall, there were eight collisions that had police officers attend for an investigation.

Another three were reported to the Collision Reporting Center. Since the storm started on a Friday and continued Saturday, how many crashes happened wasn’t available until late last week as the center is closed on weekends resulting in people having to report Monday, Dec. 19.

That brought the total in SD&G to 47 crashes during a storm that brought at least 30 centimeters (12 inches) of snow and cancelled school buses for the day.
