CORNWALL – Justin Towndale will be Cornwall’s next mayor.
Unofficial results show the councillor won with 5,169 votes, defeating appointed incumbent Glen Grant with 4,088.
James Leroux had 556 votes and Jordan Poapst had 215.
The council will see incumbents Carilyne Hebert (4,439), Elaine MacDonald (3,880), Dean Hollingsworth (3,480), Todd Bennett (3,312), Maurice Dupelle (3,302), Claude McIntosh (3,217) and Syd Gardiner (2,738) return.
A new face garnered the most votes for councillor with Sarah Good locking up 5,478 votes. Also new to the council table are Denis Sabourin (2,859) and Fred Ngoundjo (2,719).
There were 10,166 ballots cast. Voter turnout was 28.6 per cent.
