CORNWALL – Cornwall police are investigating a fire at a city restaurant Monday as a possible arson.
Emergency responders were called to the Pizza Hut at Brookdale Avenue and Vincent Massey Drive around 2:30 a.m. where police officers found a fire in the building.
Cornwall firefighters were called in to put out the fire.
“At this time, the investigation into the mischief and possible arson remains ongoing,” spokeswoman Stephanie MacRae told Cornwall Newswatch.
MacRae says they are aware of a similar fire at another eatery in Morrisburg, which is being investigated by SD&G OPP.
The fire happened at Karra’s Burgers & Fries on Main Street. The restaurant’s Google business page says it’s temporarily closed.
“We are sad to say that Karra’s location in Morrisburg will be closed till further notice due to a fire. We thank everyone for your support and hope to see you again in the future,” management said in a social media post.
“The CPS…has been in contact with our law enforcement partners on the matter,” MacRae added.
