CORNWALL – The cost to keep the lights on in the City of Cornwall and the surrounding area will be going up this summer.
Cornwall Electric announced today that rates will increase 1.53 per cent or about $2.15 a month for a homeowner with a monthly consumption of 1,000 kilowatts of power.
The new rate takes effect July 1.
It’s less than the rate increase last year that was at 2.3 per cent. The hike was 2.95 per cent in 2020 and 2 per cent in 2019.
Cornwall Electric – part of FortisOntario – has just over 25,000 customers in Cornwall, parts of South Glengarry and South Stormont, and Cornwall Island.
