SD&G – If it comes to local testing for novel coronavirus (COVID-19), you likely won’t be heading to your local hospital.
The Eastern Ontario Health Unit plans to set up roughly five screening centers in Eastern Ontario, much like other health units are doing across Ontario.
They would be in the area covering Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry and Prescott-Russell and would look to keep people out of already overcrowded hospitals.
The centers (locations haven’t been announced yet) will likely be in places like health clinics and other buildings and would be staffed by health professionals.
The health unit is holding a news conference at 1 p.m. today in Cornwall to unveil details about its pandemic planning.
