CORNWALL – A youth wellness hub is officially opening its doors in Cornwall.

The Eastern Champlain Youth Wellness Hub is holding its official opening today (Wednesday) at 212 Pitt Street.

The center, which has been open since January, is meant as a “one-stop-shop” where pre-teens, teenagers and young adults can access a number of specialized health services including those addressing mental health and addiction.

There are 17 partner organizations at the Cornwall location.

It’s open to people from 12 to 25 years old and you don’t require an OHIP card to access the service nor do you need to book an appointment. The goal is to make sure youth receive the services they need without waiting lists.

It’s one of two locations in the region – the other is in Rockland. The region was chosen as one of 10 pilot projects in Ontario.

The agency says funding is secure for the facility through March 2021.

The hub is open three days a week: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.
