SD&G – A slippery and snow-filled weekend is in store for the region, according to Environment Canada.

The agency issued a special weather statement Friday morning, calling for freezing rain on Saturday afternoon and early evening that will be followed by heavy snow.

Depending on where you are, you may see more rain (near the St. Lawrence River) than snow (near the Ottawa Valley) early Saturday evening.

Once everything changes to snow, it’s expected to continue into Sunday with up to 10 centimeters (4 inches) possible.

Environment Canada says some freezing rain or snowfall warnings may be required over the weekend.
