Akwesasne police shot at blocks from police station

ST. REGIS, Que. — An officer with the Akwesasne Police Service is okay after being ambushed while on patrol early Friday morning (Dec. 20).

It happened around 1 a.m. at the intersection of First Street and Angus Thomas Memorial Street – a few blocks from the AMPS station.

Police say the officer was on general patrol in their cruiser when someone opened fire from a dark-coloured Chrysler 300 before driving away.

The suspect fired “a number of shots,” police said.

Police are offering a cash reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspects.
