SD&G – The Civic Holiday Monday will have a few closures across the region.
There won’t be as many though because the August holiday is not a statutory holiday under the Ontario Retail Business Holidays Act.
Some retail stores will be open though it’s probably best to phone ahead to make sure.
Municipal government offices will be closed in Cornwall and SD&G, as are banks and other government offices.
Canada Post is closed and there’s no mail delivery.
Cornwall Square will be open 11 a.m until 5 p.m. for the Civic Holiday.
Garbage and recycling in Cornwall won’t be picked up on Monday – it will be done Tuesday. Collection for the remainder of the week will be delayed by one day. The city landfill is also closed Monday.
Cornwall Transit is not running and the office is closed.
The Aquatic Center and the Benson Center will be open for regular programs. Outdoor pools will also be open.
The Cornwall Civic Complex will be closed except for the walking track for walkers and joggers from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The Cornwall Public Library and the SD&G County Library system will be closed.
The only LCBO location open in Cornwall on Monday will be at the Brookdale Mall from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Long Sault and Maxville locations are also open 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Sydney Street Beer Store is the only city location open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Cornwall Walmart is open Monday 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and the pharmacy is open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
As for medical clinics, the Pitt Street Medical Center (1335 Pitt Street) and the Cornwall Health Care Center (820 McConnell Avenue) are both closed Monday. The McConnell Avenue clinic is open Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The walk-in clinic at Cornwall Medical Practice (124 Second Street West) will be open on the Civic Holiday Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
