
SOUTH GLENGARRY – A former priest, now living in Quebec, has been charged by SD&G O.P.P. in relation to a case of historical sexual assault in South Glengarry.
Police allege the assaults in Green Valley happened to a young man and took place as far back as 1976.
On Tuesday (March 12), police arrested 79-year-old Gilles Deslauriers of Vercheres, Que., a community about 50 kilometers east of Montreal on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River.
Deslauriers was investigated during the Cornwall Public Inquiry and had also been convicted in 1986 of abusing four boys in Cornwall.
Deslauriers is facing two counts of indecent assault.
He will appear in an Alexandria, Ont. court on April 3.
