CORNWALL – City police have laid a couple of arson charges against a Cornwall woman in connection to a car and house fire earlier this month.

Fire Chief Pierre Voisine told Cornwall Newswatch they battled a car on fire in a carport at a home in the 200 block of St. Felix Street around 1:41 a.m. on Sunday, March 3.

“We were on scene within two minutes. There was a vehicle on fire in a carport and it (the fire) had transitioned into the external part of the house…the siding and that kind of stuff…(it caused) enough damage,” the chief said.

Cornwall police say a woman had used fire accelerant to torch the car and the home belonging to a man she knows.

Police made an arrest on Friday following an investigation.

Erica Brazeau, 25, of Cornwall is charged with two counts of arson, possession of incendiary material and a breach of a court order.

She was held for a bail hearing.
