AKWESASNE – Two suspected drug traffickers have been arrested after a late night raid on a home in the Snye district of Akwesasne.
Officers with the integrated drug and crime unit and other Akwesasne Mohawk Police officers moved in on the home last Saturday night (Dec. 22).
“The late night raid was the result of an ongoing investigation into illicit drug trafficking,” the police agency said in a release.
Various drugs, including cocaine and marijuana, as well as cash and guns were seized.
Two people – a 36-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman – were arrested and are facing various drugs and weapons related charges.
The woman was also charged with obstructing police.
“This was a significant seizure as drugs and guns pose a real safety concern,” Police Chief Shawn Dulude said.
