ALEXANDRIA – North Glengarry voters have a new deputy mayor and have filled some council seats.
Unofficial results from the township show Carma Williams has won with 1,599 votes. Her closest challenger, Brian Caddell, had 1,421 votes. Bob Proulx had 426.
Voters were picking candidates for the Alexandria and Lochiel wards, as well as a councillor at large.
In Alexandria, incumbent Michel Depratto was elected with 911 votes.
In Lochiel, Brenda Noble won with 357 votes.
The councillor at large is incumbent Jacques Massie with 1,434 votes.
Jeff Manley had been acclaimed to the Kenyon ward council seat while Johanne Wensink was acclaimed in Maxville.
Jamie MacDonald, the previous deputy mayor, was acclaimed as mayor. He takes over for the retiring Chris McDonell.
