CORNWALL – City firefighters were able to contain a fire in the back porch of a duplex on Montreal Road Thursday morning.
The fire at 520 Montreal Road started around 10:45 a.m. and was contained to the back of the one unit.
There is some reported smoke damage but no injuries.
The fire prevention office is investigating the cause of the fire.
This is not the first fire at the building, which sits on the northwest corner of Montreal Road and Louisa Street. In November 2017, a neighbour discovered a fire brewing in the floorboards of the Le Village duplex. Firefighters had to cut out part of the bathroom floor to put it out.
