CORNWALL – A suspect, wanted in a smash and grab near Guy and First Streets last month, has been arrested.

Cornwall police had put out a photo July 12 of a guy on a bicycle, looking for identification after the passenger window of a Volkswagen Jetta was smashed in and a wallet stolen. The suspect took off on a blue and purple mountain bike.

On Thursday (Aug. 9), police made an arrest.

Not only was the accused wanted for the smash and grab, police say he had also snatched two purses last month and tried to return goods to a store on Ninth Street he had not bought.

Marc Campeau, 45, is charged with two counts of fraud, one count of mischief, three counts of theft and five count of breach of probation for failing to keep the peace.

He was held for a bail hearing.
