SD&G – More people took the opportunity to place an X beside a candidate’s name this time around during the Ontario election in two SD&G ridings.
Of the 78,642 registers electors in Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry, just over 43,000 cast ballots, leading to a voter turnout of 55.36 per cent.
During the 2014 election, the turnout rate in SDSG was 52 per cent as a little more 40,342 cast ballots. There were also more people on the voter’s list this time than in 2014.
Voter turnout in Glengarry-Prescott-Russell (GPR) was also up slightly – 56.94 per cent compared to 53.4 per cent in 2014, despite there being fewer registered electors on the list.
Turnout across Ontario was 58 per cent compared to 51.3 per cent in 2014.
