Cruickshank Construction sold to Toronto firm

TORONTO – A recognized name in SD&G for various road projects is being sold to another family owned and operated construction company.

Kingston-based Cruickshank Group, which has a regional office in Morrisburg, has been sold to Toronto-based Coco Group.

Coco Group announced yesterday (June 7) that it has bought all of Cruickshank Group’s assets, which include Cruickshank Construction, Greyleigh Limited, High Road Maintenance and Cruickshank Properties.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Coco will be adding over 700 seasonal employees to its workforce from Cruickshank. “This allows us to better service our customers in heavy civil construction and asphalt paving projects,” the company said in a statement.

With the acquisition, Coco will now have 41 stationary and portable plants to make asphalt and concrete, as well as waterfront docks for importing, two rock crushing plants, a concrete pipe and box culvert manufacturing plant, a terminal in Millhaven, Ont. and over 5,000 pieces of equipment.

The deal closed June 1.
