LIMOGES, Ont. – Investigators have determined the identity of a person found dead on the shoulder of Highway 417 on Sunday (July 2).
Provincial police were called to the westbound lanes of the freeway near mile marker 88 around 2:30 p.m. yesterday (Sunday) where they found human remains.
A forensic team, technical traffic investigators and a drone from the Russell County Crime Unit were working the scene as a section of the highway and an on-ramp were closed for some time.
Russell County O.P.P. have determined that the pedestrian was struck and killed by a passing vehicle.
The victim has been identified as a 34-year-old woman from Ottawa. However, her name is not being released until family is notified.
A section of the highway near Limoges reopened around 12:30 a.m. Monday (July 3).
