CORNWALL – City councillor Justin Towndale is all asking parties involved to put the brakes on removing a traffic light at Cumberland Street and Water Street.
The light, put in place in July 2016 to control traffic during the construction on Brookdale Avenue, was slated to be removed soon.
As Cornwall Newswatch first told you last week, the light was to be removed by Bray Construction’s subcontractor within two weeks.
Coun. Towndale has asked for a staff report on leaving the light in place and, in the meantime, for the light to stay in place.
There have been a number of crashes at the intersection, including a fatal one in 2015, where Cumberland’s two-lane street meets Water Street’s four-lane boulevard, which is split by a raised island.
