CORNWALL – The Cornwall Chamber of Commerce is warning area businesses about an invoice from a company masquerading as a phone directory service.
The invoice is from a company called DirectPages411 and “leads businesses to believe they are paying for a business directory or telephone book ad and, in some cases, it may warn of past due penalties,” said Lezlie Strasser, executive manager of the chamber.
“The chamber has investigated the matter and has determined it to be a scam.”
Strasser said businesses should practice due diligence, including training staff to spot potential scams and to closely inspect all invoices.
