One dead, three hurt after head-on crash

GLEN WALTER – One person has died after a three vehicle crash on County Road 2, east of Cornwall.

SD&G O.P.P. Const. Joel Doiron told Cornwall Newswatch, two vehicles collided head-on near Purcell Road and a third was caught up in the wreckage around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Police say the driver of an eastbound sedan somehow lost control and collided with an oncoming minivan.

Three people were in the white car and were taken to hospital where the male passenger succumbed to his injuries.

The man driving and a woman passenger are in life-threatening condition, police said.

The woman driving the minivan, who was alone, was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

A third vehicle – a pickup truck hauling a trailer – got caught up in the wreck but there were no injuries.

No names are being released until next of kin are notified.

County Road 2, near the intersection of Purcell Road (Gilmour Road to Purcell Road), remains closed to traffic and detours are in place.

Traffic investigators are on scene.
