CORNWALL – A man accused of defacing the Cornwall cenotaph this summer will be going to trial in October 2017.

Dustin O’Byrne, 21, is charged with mischief to a war memorial, four counts of mischief and breach of probation.

The cenotaph at Legion Memorial Park on Second Street West was emblazoned with a green spray-painted signature in the middle of July.

Workers from the city’s parks and recreation department were able to get all the paint off the monument to Canada’s war dead.

An Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall has set aside four hours for the trial on October 18, 2017.
