CORNWALL – A holiday themed social for the United Way has raised over $51,000.
The United Way Holiday Wine and Gourmet Tastings event was held at Nav Center on Saturday night (Nov. 26) and featured various beverages, paired with food, along with music and dancing.
The preliminary fundraising total is roughly $3,000 more than last year.
The annual social, which is in its fourth year, is a key event for the United Way as it looks to raise $700,000 by the middle of December to help 17 agencies and 18 programs in SD&G.
Roughly 140 community partners contributed to the event, which was the “Glitter & Ice” theme this year.
So far, the campaign is at 25 per cent of its goal, though Executive Director Lori Greer told Cornwall Newswatch last week that larger donations usually come in later in the campaign.
