WINCHESTER – A third winner has come forward to collect a $100,000 Encore lottery prize.

Michel and Susan Maheux won on the Friday, Aug. 5, 2016 Lotto Max draw.

A Winchester couple had checked online and couldn’t believe what they saw so they went to the store to check the ticket.

“Our son just happened to be in the area, and his friend was in the store and saw what was happening. He ran outside to tell our son we had won, but he didn’t believe him until he came inside and saw the look on our faces,” Michel recalled.

The family of five has big plans for the winnings, including some home renovations, adding a shop to their barn, a vacation and sharing some of the money with their kids.

“This win gives us freedom. We can pay some bills and do things so much sooner than we originally planned,” the Maheuxs said.

The ticket was bought at the Pioneer gas station on County Road 31.

This is the third Encore winner in the region after a man from Cornwall and a mother-daughter couple from Glengarry won similar prizes.
