LONG SAULT – There’s a new head of the SD&G O.P.P.

Staff Sgt. Michael Mulhearn will be the detachment commander, the police force announced Wednesday.

He also has assumed the rank of inspector, Chief Superintendent Daniel Redmond said.

Mulhearn has spent almost all of his 29 years with the O.P.P. at the Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry detachment.

“I am very pleased to have Mike as our new Detachment Commander”, Dennis Fife, Chair of the SD&G Police Services Board, stated. “I have worked with Mike for several years and have always been satisfied with his performance.”

He replaces Brendan B.J. MacDonald, who left to take a job at the East Region headquarters in Smiths Falls, Ont.
