CORNWALL – A lucky man from the Cornwall-area has won an all-terrain vehicle and trailer in the United Way’s campaign giveaway.

Bernie Carriere’s name was drawn Monday at noon from the hundreds of tickets inside a red drum at the United Way office on Fourth Street West.

After a short phone call with United Way Executive Director Lori Greer, she said Carriere was surprised by the win, saying “wow” a number of times in their conversation.

The other big wow is the boost the draw has given to the UW’s $710,000 campaign, in order to support 17 member agencies.

Roughly $19,000 in tickets were sold for the ATV and trailer.

Greer said they couldn’t have done it without the support of Irwin Supply and farmsigns.com

The United Way has a number of events coming up including a ball hockey tournament at Boston Pizza Oct. 17, a curling bonspiel on Nov. 27 and the Celebration Sleigh giveaway kickoff, also in November.
