CORNWALL – A freight train derailment near Oshawa has resulted in the cancellation of Via Rail train service through Eastern Ontario.
The company tweeted Saturday afternoon that all Montreal-Toronto and Ottawa-Toronto services were suspended for the day.
It affects Via Rail trains in both directions.
Via said it’s making alternate arrangements to move passengers using buses.
But the added challenge is finding buses due to the Pan Am Games in Toronto.
There are no reported injuries or dangerous goods aboard the freight train which derailed just before 2 p.m.
