CORNWALL – A controlled burn at a Pitt Street company resulted in the fire department attending the scene Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to Surgeson Electric at 1730 Pitt Street around 2:20 p.m.

Smoke was puffing from a chimney at the back of the building on the corner of Emma Avenue.

Cornwall Fire Department Platoon Chief Luc Richer told Cornwall Newswatch the fire turned out to be a controlled burn which was creating a lot of smoke.

The fire department left the scene shortly after to head back to Walmart to control the entrances to the facility while police investigated a bomb threat.
