CHESTERVILLE – A man has been killed in a head-on crash between a car and a dump truck on Boyne Road.

SD&G O.P.P. were called to the scene around 1:30 p.m. this afternoon (Thursday).

Investigators say, for reasons still under investigation, the westbound Ford collided head-on with the oncoming dump truck on the two-lane paved highway.

The driver of the car was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the dump truck, a 61-year-old man from South Dundas, was treated for minor injuries at hospital.

The name and identity of the victim is being withheld until relatives are notified.

O.P.P. Const. Joel Doiron tells Cornwall Newswatch the victim is from the SD&G area.

A section of Boyne Road, from Belanger Road to Kittle Road, was closed to traffic for several hours but reopened just after 7 p.m.
