Carleton Place takes Fred Page Cup

CORNWALL – Carleton Place got itself early on the board in the Fred Page Cup final and held on to secure the trophy.

The Carleton Place Canadians defeated Dieppe 3-2.

Scoring for the Canadians were Stephen Baylis in the first. Bryce VanHorn added Carleton Place’s second goal on a power play opportunity in the second.

Dieppe was scoreless until the third period until Ryan Langan and Robbie Graham both scored with an extra man to even up the contest.

Willie Brooks of Carleton Place got the game-winner 14:27 into the final period.

Both teams were evenly matched with shots on goal coming out to 32-31 in favour of the Commandos.

Carleton Place captain Stephen Baylis was named MVP.

The Canadians – the first team to win back-to-back Fred Page Cup titles – go on to play in the Royal Bank Cup – the national championships.
