CORNWALL – City police are investigating the death of a man at an apartment complex, just north of the Le Village district.

Yellow police tape lined the east side of the block on Marlborough Street, between Victoria Avenue and First Street, around a two-storey red brick building.

The apartment building at 25-29 Marlborough Street, also houses a chiropractic and acupuncture clinic and a laser pain management clinic.

Police were releasing few details, only indicating there was a “sudden death” of a man in one of the units.

They were called to the scene around 2 p.m.

Cornwall Police Acting Sergeant Robin McIntosh told Cornwall Newswatch they are assisting the regional coroner, who is leading the investigation at this point and was on scene earlier today (Monday).

McIntosh indicated it would be up to the coroner to determine whether it was a criminal matter, where police would then pick up the investigation.

Two evidence markers were placed on the steps leading into the building and a forensics officer was taking pictures inside the building and along the sidewalk and steps.

Other tenants in the building were still carrying on about their daily routines with two women leaving one of the units briefly to walk down the street and to take out the garbage.
