CORNWALL – Ontario’s solicitor general got a glimpse behind the scenes of the Cornwall Police Service and Cornwall Fire Services Wednesday.

Michael Kerzner, joined by local MPP Nolan Quinn, met with several CPS divisions, top brass at the Pitt Street station, first responders, a police union rep, police board members, the mayor and city CAO.

The visit was part of a promise Kerzner made to Police Chief Shawna Spowart several years ago, the department said.

“We’re grateful to the minister for taking the time to visit the City of Cornwall and it was a pleasure to welcome him – it’s clear he genuinely cares and has demonstrated a desire to listen,” Spowart said in a statement.

The visit lasted about 45 minutes.

Kerzner also took a tour of the fire station being built on the northwest corner of Tollgate Road and Brookdale Avenue.
