Boil water advisory for parts of South Stormont

(Newswatch Group/Bill Kingston, File)

Update 11:45 a.m. Tuesday: The boil water advisory has been lifted. Water samples sent to the Eastern Ontario Health Unit indicate the water is safe to drink.

LONG SAULT – Residents in South Stormont connected to the municipal water supply are being told to boil their water until further notice.

The boil water advisory issued Monday (March 17) applies to Long Sault, Ingleside and Osnabruck Center.

The township says the precautionary measure was put in place because a power failure resulted in a loss of pressure for the water system.

To avoid possibly getting sick, you’re asked to bring water to a full rolling boil for at least one minute before using it.

The advisory will be lifted once the township gets the all-clear on water samples sent to the Eastern Ontario Health Unit.
