SD&G – Auxiliary officers with the SD&G Ontario Provincial Police collected around 4,000 pounds of food for local food banks.
The collections on Saturday (Nov. 16) happened at four grocery store locations in North Dundas and South Dundas.
Members of the U15 South Dundas Lions Rep hockey team helped out with the Stuff the Cruiser Food Drive.
Const. John MacPherson says 3,715 pounds of food and $4,180 was collected.
A separate collection in Alexandria at Mainville’s Your Independent Grocer with help from the Saint Vincent de Paul Society collected 138 bags of non-perishable food items at $1,738 in cash.
The bulk of donations will go to Community Food Share, serving Dundas and Stormont Counties with Alexandria donations going to Saint Vincent de Paul.
