TORONTO – A grandfather from North Dundas is the latest SD&G resident to strike it rich on the lottery.
Robert Paquette of Chesterville won $405,465.30 after getting the second prize on his Lotto Max ticket from Aug. 9.
Paquette had gone into the MacEwen gas station on Main Street North in Chesterville where the clerk accidentally printed the wrong ticket but he decided to keep it.
It turned out to be the big winner.
“I went to the store to use the ticket checker, and when I scanned my ticket, I saw the ‘Big Winner’ message on the screen. My first thought was that the machine was broken, so I took my ticket over to the store clerk to have it validated,” Paquette told lottery officials in Toronto while picking up his prize.
“The next thing I knew, I received a call on the store’s phone line. I was shaking like a leaf, still thinking something had to be wrong. When the long win slip printed, my win finally started to feel real,” he said.
Paquette plans to share his winnings with his wife and children, put some money away for his grandkids, plus do some “bucket list trips.”
