BRINSTON – A South Dundas woman’s errand to pick up a bottle of hair spray turned into a $1 million win.

Kristen Casselman of Brinston – a self-described cat and dog mom – picked up the Lotto Max ticket for the May 31 draw at Seaway Valley Pharmacy in Winchester.

“I was about to head out to pick up some groceries when I remembered to check my Lotto Max free play ticket,” she told lottery officials in Toronto.

“When I started matching several numbers, I had to collect myself, slow down, and check them again. I realized they all matched and ran to tell my partner.”

She won a Maxmillions prize worth $1 million.

“Winning feels pretty darn great. It’s surreal and unbelievable, but it’s true!” she said.

She plans do some home renovations and take a beach vacation.

Casselman, the managing director of the Winchester District Memorial Hospital Foundation, is also keeping the bottle of hair spray to remember the big win.
