OPP investigating bomb threats targeting schools

ORILLIA, Ont. – The Ontario Provincial Police says it’s investigating multiple bomb threats involving schools in Eastern and Northern Ontario.

“The threats targeted multiple schools under multiple school boards and other facilities, demanding payment,” the police force said Wednesday afternoon.

One of the affected schools was La Citadelle Catholic high school on McConnell Avenue, as well as other French Catholic elementary schools in the city.

Students were evacuated but were allowed to return to La Citadelle around 2 p.m.

The OPP says no actual explosive devices were found.
