CORNWALL – Mathieu Fleury has been hired as the City of Cornwall’s chief administrative officer.

The city made the announcement Monday after conducting a search for a suitable candidate.

Fleury was an Ottawa city councillor for 12 years for the ward covering the Lowertown-Sandy Hill-Vanier area of the capital. He has also been a policy advisor in the federal government, the City of Cornwall said.

Most recently, he’s been the interim executive director with J.W. MacIntosh Community Support Services in Williamsburg.

Fleury is fluently bilingual and has a Masters in Health Sciences from the University of Ottawa. He and his wife, Lai, have a son, Jacob, and a daughter, Adele.

He has been hired for a five year term, which begins today.

The position has been vacant since Maureen Adams announced her departure in October 2022 to take a similar position with the United Counties of SD&G.

Mark Boileau has been filling in as acting CAO in the interim.
