CORNWALL – Three people are in stable condition at the Cornwall Community Hospital after a Saturday night shooting along Vincent Massey Drive.
Police say it happened near the intersection with Fourteenth Street West around 8:20 p.m. Officers were initially called to the scene for a disturbance.
There was a fight among several people who knew each other prior to shots being fired.
“Several individuals” were arrested at the scene, police added.
The shooting is considered an isolated incident as the parties involved knew each other.
Cornwall Police Service Acting Chief Vincent Foy says a shooting is “concerning and alarming to members of the community” and that instances like these are “rare” in Cornwall.
Foy’s statement also alludes to other police agencies being involved in this investigation.
“We have dedicated appropriate resources to actively investigate this incident and are working closely with our law enforcement partners.”
