SD&G – An engineer and former South Glengarry councillor has been hired as the United Counties of SD&G head librarian.

The county announced Monday it has hired Rebecca Luck following a “comprehensive recruitment process.”

Library board chairwoman Margaret MacDonald says Luck’s “energy, positivity and focus…will be a great benefit to our outstanding library staff and patrons.”

She succeeds Karen Franklin, who retires this year after a 15 year career with the SD&G Library.

Luck’s first day is Monday, June 26.

Rebecca Luck was voted in by South Glengarry council in January 2022 to fill out the rest of the term after a shuffle around the table that saw Coun. Stephanie Jaworski appointed deputy mayor.

Luck is a municipal engineer for EVB Engineering in Cornwall.
