CORNWALL – The real estate holding company in a lawsuit with the City of Cornwall over building permit applications has switched its legal team.

The company, Rothmar Holdings, announced Monday it has hired two boutique Toronto law firms in its “ongoing battle” against the city. It originally had one Ottawa firm.

In a news release, CEO Aaron Bell says the case is “active” and “proceeding ahead quickly” with more details to come in the next few weeks.

The company alleges it’s been unfairly denied permit requests to do modifications to four downtown properties (101-106 Pitt Street, 107-109 Pitt Street, 155-157 Pitt Street, 26 First Street West).

The will be heard next in court on June 19.
