CORNWALL – A Long Sault woman has been sentenced to two years in prison for defrauding a local business.

Carol Hemond was sentenced in a Cornwall court in October after she was found guilty on fraud and forgery charges.

Hemond, who was 67 years old when she was arrested in May 2020, was accused of defrauding a Brookdale Avenue business from 1992 to 2018 by taking money over that time.

Court records show Hemond was given a two year prison sentence plus three years probation on each count she was facing. The sentences run concurrently.

The amount that was taken from the business was more than $5,000.

The name of the business that was victimized was never disclosed by police.
