CORNWALL – A product of the coronavirus pandemic, employees at TTEC (formerly known TeleTech) are now working from home permanently.

The inbound call center was at the corner of Tollgate Road and Pitt Street (10 Tollgate Road East) but the company’s signs have been taken down.

In a statement to Cornwall Newswatch, company spokesman Tim Blair says they allowed employees to work remotely from home in order to ensure their health and safety.

“TTEC continues to serve clients in this manner and by the end of this year will no longer operate from the Cornwall facility. Our colleagues will be able to continue their employment supporting our clients from their homes,” Blair told CNW.

As for the future of the building, Blair says TTEC was a tenant.

The Cornwall location started as Atelka before it was bought by the Colorado-based company in 2016 as it looked to tap into the Canadian market and its language pool.

Blair was unable to say how many employees are presently working at Cornwall TTEC because the company has “moved away from on-site requirements for our colleagues.”

In 2020, the company had 350 employees, according to the Cornwall business directory.
